Sean J. Sharp, Ph.D.

Dr. Sean Sharp is an assistant professor of biology at Hood College and principle investigator of the lab. His current focus in on the soil-plant-atmoshpere continuum with particular interest in wetland plants and greenhouse gas emissions. When not immersed in coastal ecology and wetland science, he enjoys being on the water, birding, cooking, and a good board game.
Graduate Students
Meghan Junis

Meghan is earning her M.S. in Enviornmental Biology from Hood College. She received her B.S. from Gettysburg College in Environmental Science with a specialty in Conservation Biology. Meghan works full-time for KCI Technologies Inc. as an Environmental Consultant. For her master's research project, in collaboration with Dr. Sean Sharp and Bella Videtti, she is working on nutrient uptake and hydrology in developed versus undeveloped wetlands. She plans to continue her career in the environmental field with the hope of conserving our vital natural resources. In her free time, she enjoys bird watching with her cats, reading, and staying active outdoors through hiking and other activities.
Bella Videtti

Bella is a working Graduate Student attending Hood College for my M.S. in Environmental Biology. She received her B.S. from Shepherd University in Environmental Science with a specialty in Aquatics. Bella works full-time for the USDA-NRCS as a Natural Resource Specialist. For her master's research project, she is collaboration with Dr. Sean Sharp and Meghan Junis working in Urban Ecology through the lens of greenhouse gas exchange.

Through her higher education and career path experiences, she plans to continue working in the environmental field, being the change in the way we treat our environment.

In my free time I enjoy spending it outdoors in anyway possible, with my dog, traveling, kayaking, hiking, or with friends.
Undergraduate Students
August Mullican

August is a Senior at Hood College studying for a B.A. in Biology and a minor in Business Administration. His work in the lab involves examining how watershed development impacts benthic algae community structure in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. After graduating in 2025, August hopes to join a career fire department and pursue a paramedic certification.
